M H Two Counties  won by 9 wickets

On the picturesque Mistley ground The M H Two Counties O 70s team entertained their Suffolk counterparts and   won an enjoyable game for batsmen by an astonishing 9 wickets. Sent into bat Suffolk were soon on the move and Dougie Andrews scored a near chanceless century and lead the way for Suffolk to amass 213 for 6 in their alloted 40 overs. Skipper Bruce Tompkins was the pick of the home bowlers and only he managed to bowl a maiden over 4 of them in fact. Willie Muggleston 39 and Rick Ratford 28 backed Dougie up well  and enjoyed the sunshine and the tame Two Counties bowling. There was a very unusual event in the Suffolk innings two of their players were run out at the bowlers end when the bowler deflected the hard hit straight  drive onto the stumps this happened in subsequent  overs  twice in one innings is a very rare occurrence.

Chasing what seemed a doughty total Two Counties got off to a good start with pinch hitter Mike Thew netting 22 before he departed in the eighth over, the only maiden over bowled in the two Counties innings with the score on 48. From then on John Stuck 129 n.o. and ‘Badger Ball’ 50 n.o. took over and blasted the Suffolk attack to all parts of the ground to secure a nine wicket win in the 28th over. A quite outstanding performance in a 169 stand secured in only 20 overs.  O’Sullivan was the only Suffolk wicket taker,in a match dominated by the batsmen. As ever the game was played in a great spirit and both sides enjoyed the convivial atmosphere in the very friendly Mistley clubhouse.
