The player was reported for the use of language that, “in the circumstances is obscene, offensive or insulting” in contravention of the ECB recreational conduct regulations. The umpires have confirmed that the player and his captain were notified of the level 1 compliant contravention report being issued at the time of the incident and confirmed after the game.
While normally this would result in a one match ban, Sam Hall had a previous level 1 offence and ban issued in August of last year. As a result as per the ECB sanctions outline in the recreational conduct regulations for a repeat offence within a 24 month period, the suspension as a result of this incident will be a two match ban. The player therefore will be ineligible to play on either the 23rd or 30th May.
