A Double Hat Trick in two successive overs!!

Most of the posts recently have been pretty negative and about discipline so it’s good to report something positive ……..   In the Division 6 match between Ipscol and Kesgrave,  Kishor Sadhak took a hat trick in one over and then a hat trick in his next over!  This has had statisticians rushing around to see if it has ever happened before to no avail at the moment.  He returned overall figures of 6 for 21.  I guess he has cemented his place for the next few games!!

Teams strengthening ………

The reduction of Division 3 by the withdrawal of 2 teams has meant several “free”  Saturdays for the remaining teams.  Although it is not feasible to legislate it is to be hoped that the Spirit of Cricket will stop teams loading up the lower divisions.  There are decided safety and Safeguarding issues involved here………… Please note and put into effect please….

Over Rates!!

I have had several complaints already this season about over rates in the lower Divisions.  For example one club spent 4 hours bowling 40 overs and another when when the first innings finished after 5pm!  This is a contributory factor to losing youngsters from the game because in this age of instant everything, they often find the whole business of playing cricket rather tedious.  Please sort now or sanctions will follow…….

Ruling on Wide Calls in Matches below Division 3

Rule 14j is clear for Divisions 1 to 3 but I do understand the wording for matches below Division 3 could cause some confusion….. Basically the blue/white 17 inch markings are a guideline for non panel umpires (usually players) in matches below Division 3 to determine whether a leg or off side wide should be given. It is NOT to determine a leg side wide as is the rule for Divisions 1 to 3.  Thus in matches below Division 3, any ball whether legside or offside to any batsman should only be called a wide if it passes outside of the blue/white markings when it passes the popping crease..

Lakenheath Withdraw from Division 3

We regret to advise that Lakenheath have withdrawn their Division 3 side from the league.  All fixtures will now be removed from the fixture list and from play-cricket.  Lakenheath are still competing in Division 9W but the MSC will be seeking assurances from them and monitoring closely (on safety grounds) as to the quality of the players who will be representing their club in Division 9W.
