Welcome to the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Cricket Championship

Suffolk CCC v Essex CCC – Showcase Game

This is on Sunday 21 July 2024 , 11.00 start . Gates open at 9.30.

This is the third time the club have hosted the Showcase Game and it is sure to be a spectacular event as per the first two which saw Kent in 2022, who went on to win the Royal London Cup 1 Day Competition 2022,  and then Surrey in 2023, the reigning Champions of the 2022 LV= Insurance County Championship.

As ever there will be a carnival affair at the game: a brass band,  hot and cold food wagons, a junior cricket tournament between innings on the outfield and of course a bar available to purchase those much needed beverages of choice.

Ticket which are £10 for adults, which Includes a Match Day Programme & Scorecard , and free for accompanied U18s can be bought from

England Soccer Match this Saturday

Apparently on Saturday afternoon 22 grown men have planned to kick a bag full of air about in the middle of the cricket season and some want to watch……… apparently this spectacle starts at 5pm….

You are reminded that it is within the Championship rules that with mutual consent clubs may arrange an earlier start time and reduce overs.  In matches where there are Panel Umpires they should be consulted at the time of the decision making process.

Mid Season Transfers

The link to the Mid Season Transfer Form has now been updated and it can now be found under the Championship Rules tab……

Transfers mid season are only granted (to quote from Rule 13a)  “only for relocation or extreme personal circumstances.”

During the close season a suggested list of these will be added to the Rules to be applied from season 2025.

The deadline for these applications will be 1st July each year.

Important Notice – Hoax Calls!!

THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT for immediate action please….

There have been two hoax calls this week by someone claiming that they will have to call off a fixture for the coming week.  Our rule says that cancellation shall not take place without a telephone conversation taking place and that text messages and voicemail is not acceptable and clubs are reminded of this Rule.

In the meantime all clubs are asked to seek confirmation of any cancellation by contacting the captain or Championship Rep before taking any action.

This applies to all clubs but particularly to Mildenhall CC who have been the recipients of the two hoax calls and here you should contact Lou Handy (07866 419186)  or Andy Young (07758 255343)

Bowler Limitation and Bonus Points Awarded

There have been one or two issues with the above particularly in reduced over matches – let’s all hope that the exceptionally poor weather so far this season is now at an end!

If you click on the link below you will see the rules that relate to bowler limitation as well as points gained.

If you are the Play-Cricket administrator or you are entrusted with completion the scores for your match on Play-Cricket then please change the default number of overs when the match is reduced at the time that you enter the scores and points gained.  This makes checking easier…….

Geoff Eveling – Vice President

As well as striking the golf ball straight and long at the home of golf at the St Andrews course this week (in his dreams of course), I have another excellent piece of news for Geoff and all others in the Championship…..

At the recent MSC meeting it was unanimously decided to vote Geoff, as a retired Chairman of the MSC,  in as a Vice President.  This is a well deserved accolade for one who a has given so much to the Two Counties Championship.  Well done Geoff…..

Category 3 and Category 3 with Dispensation

A list of players registered as Category 3 has been added to the Overseas Player information tab.  There are an increasing number of Category 3 players who have been given dispensation because of visa type.  The MSC does all it can to encourage this trend so that more players are encouraged to play our beautiful game…..
