Thurkarathen Kunaratnam of Kirby Cricket Club, as Team Captain, failed to exercise control of his players and is hereby warned that should further failures of his Captaincy responsibilities occur in the next 24 months additional sanctions will be considered.
Kirby Cricket Club and Real Oddies Cricket Club both failed to take adequate steps to ensure that their members behaved in an orderly fashion and a deduction of 20 points will be applied to both teams. The reduction of Division 3 by the withdrawal of 2 teams has meant several “free” Saturdays for the remaining teams. Although it is not feasible to legislate it is to be hoped that the Spirit of Cricket will stop teams loading up the lower divisions. There are decided safety and Safeguarding issues involved here………… Please note and put into effect please….
We regret to inform that Lakenheath have withdrawn their team from Division 9W. All their fixtures have now been removed from play-cricket and any points gained by other teams in the four matches involving Lakenheath so far this season have been removed
I have had several complaints already this season about over rates in the lower Divisions. For example one club spent 4 hours bowling 40 overs and another when when the first innings finished after 5pm! This is a contributory factor to losing youngsters from the game because in this age of instant everything, they often find the whole business of playing cricket rather tedious. Please sort now or sanctions will follow…….
Rule 14j is clear for Divisions 1 to 3 but I do understand the wording for matches below Division 3 could cause some confusion….. Basically the blue/white 17 inch markings are a guideline for non panel umpires (usually players) in matches below Division 3 to determine whether a leg or off side wide should be given. It is NOT to determine a leg side wide as is the rule for Divisions 1 to 3. Thus in matches below Division 3, any ball whether legside or offside to any batsman should only be called a wide if it passes outside of the blue/white markings when it passes the popping crease..
We regret to advise that Lakenheath have withdrawn their Division 3 side from the league. All fixtures will now be removed from the fixture list and from play-cricket. Lakenheath are still competing in Division 9W but the MSC will be seeking assurances from them and monitoring closely (on safety grounds) as to the quality of the players who will be representing their club in Division 9W.
Ted Clarkson’s Funeral will take place on Tuesday May 13th at St Gregory’s Church, Sudbury at 1pm. The Wake will then follow the Service back at Sudbury Cricket Club, Friars Street, Sudbury, CO10 2AN.
Rule 16 states that for 100 over matches (all completed matches in Division 1) the batting bonus points a start at 125 runs. The full bonus point details for all matches can be found under the Rules tab.
Home teams are reminded that a supply of spare balls should be available for all matches.
