Two Counties Awards Dinner

We are pleased to announce the final details for the end of season Presentation Dinner and Awards night on the 9th of November at Venue 16 in Ipswich.

Following last years fantastic dinner, we are delighted to announce that former England batsman Mark Ramprakash will be the after-dinner speaker this year. One of the highest scoring domestic batsmen of his generation, Ramprakash played 70 times for England and scored just short of 3,000 runs to go alongside his 50,000 domestic runs. Ramprakash after his retirement in 2012, spent 6 years as England’s batting coach, being part of the coaching set up that won the 2015 ashes. Following the end of his coaching stint with England, Mark went into the franchise circuit as a batting consultant all around the world.

The Awards Ceremony will follow Mark’s speech, each Divisional winner throughout the competition and runners up in Divisions 1-9 will receive their engraved trophies and pennants. All the winners of the Ladies T20 competitions and the winners of both Sunday League’s will also be presented with trophies and pennants. A list of winners is also attached.

We will begin the night with a sit down three course meal at 7:30pm, to which the menu is attached to this email.

We must stress that this event is open to ALL CLUBS and their guests and not just the clubs collecting a trophy, there has been some fantastic cricket played this summer within the spirit of the game and this is a chance to celebrate that!

To book your places for the night, please get your attendees to click on this link and fill in the survey by the 1st of November 2024 – https://s.surveyplanet.com/mdj1nxnx – Please note any Bookings not cancelled by the 1st of November, may be liable for a full charge.

There are no limitations on the number of attendees each club can have, and the price is £40 per person for all of this. An invoice for every booked attendee will be sent to the club’s Championship Rep. Each club will be required to pay for their attendees either via bank transfer or cheque before the night. We suggest bringing cheques to the AGM which is on Monday 14th October at Colchester Rugby Club.

The event will begin at 7pm and finish approximately 11pm. However, the bar will be open until midnight for those wishing to stay a bit longer. The Venue address is Venue16, 312 Tuddenham Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP4 3QJ and has plenty of parking facilities. The Venue will operate a “Challenge25” policy.

If you have any queries or questions, please contact Scott Button via email (sbutton@hotmail.co.uk) or phone (07985668421)

We will look forward to seeing you all on the 9th of November

Rearranged Fixtures due to bad weather or adverse weather conditions

Just to clarify Rule 18b  At the beginning of the season the MSC decided because of the small number of teams in Division 9, it was agreed to allow rearrangement of a fixture cancelled due to bad weather PROVIDING IT WAS DONE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CANCELLATION and with the agreement of both teams.

Thus with today’s poor forcast any match cancelled in DIVISION 9 for poor weather may be rearranged before the end of the season, with the agreement of both sides and assuming ground availability.  This cannot happen with fixtures cancelled earlier in the season.

ALL OTHER FIXTURES CANCELLED TODAY FOR BAD WEATHER CANNOT BE REARRANGED.

Richard (Dick) English – RIP

It is very sad to report the death of Richard (Dick) Engtish …….  Below is some information sent to me from Gary Wiles, Secretary of Hadleigh CC – I will post other details as they become available

The club is deeply saddened to learn that our former President and Life Member Richard English has passed away.

Richard was one of the finest players the club has ever produced. Over a long playing career, he became the club’s all-time leading wicket taker (2,040 wickets) and the second highest run scorer (26,094). He made his debut for Suffolk in 1960 and remains our most capped county player, with 82 matches. He captained the 1st XI for a number of seasons during the 1970s and 1980s. After he retired as a player in 2004 he became our President and organised our popular tours to Norfolk and Kent, as well as playing a leading role in our Bicentenary celebrations.

A minute’s silence will be held before all our matches next weekend, and funeral details will be announced in due course.

Gary Wiles
